A-Plant is the UK’s largest equipment hire company with over 150 service centres nationwide. Its garden and landscaping offering boasts some prestigious customers including the Environment Agency and Balfour Beatty which entrust A-Plant to deliver machinery that fulfils their varied and demanding contracts. For its arboricultural machinery, A-Plant has recently added a number of new GreenMech woodchippers to its existing fleet.

“We have always carried GreenMech machines so when it was time to invest in some new kit we had no hesitations to go with GreenMech,” explains business development manager David Kendall. “We have recently added a number of SAFETrak’s to our portfolio, which also includes GreenMech Arborist 130 chippers. With these, we can satisfy complex commercial contracts as well as supply great quality machines to the local tree surgeons and arborists. The new SAFETrak units have already been out to the Environment Agency who were more than happy with the machines, they’re great at coping with work on embankments and in other challenging environments.”

One of the benefits for David of the relationship with GreenMech is its nationwide dealer coverage. “It doesn’t matter where the A-Plant machines end up around the country, we know we can get back-up service from a GreenMech dealer and that’s very important to us. But more than this, it’s important to stock the products that the customers want and the GreenMech brand is well known and their products deliver every time. We get great feedback and importantly no complaints so everyone’s pleased.”

The SAFE-Trak 19-28 is a powerful workhorse and comes as standard with all the features expected of a GreenMech chipper. Fitted with a 50hp diesel engine, it has a 190mm x 280mm letterbox-style infeed throat which provides a 190mm chipping capacity. The patented SAFE-Trak system incorporates two independently adjusted track mounted legs. By extending one track at a time embankments up to 35° can be traversed in complete safety. With both track mounts fully extended, the 19-28 model offers a massive ground clearance of over 600mm for dealing with hidden obstacles and enabling access to the most difficult terrain.
