From Mivena fertilisers to Capillary Bunkers, Border Sports supplies a range of products that has been benefiting UK golf courses for years.

Border Sports may not be a company you have heard of before, but for over 25 years we have been supplying a range of products to golf courses and contractors across the UK.

We have developed relationships with our customers over the years giving us a great platform to understand their needs and enable us to supply quality products without losing focus on value for money, as a family-run business all our customers old and new are of equal importance to us.

Our expertise and reputation has seen us supply aggregates, rootzones and specialist sands to a range of projects including Fleetwood Town FC (new training ground), Accrington Stanley FC (main pitch), Ramside Hall Golf Club (Cathedral Course). We also supply a diverse range of drainage aggregates, bunker sands, rootzones and top dressings to golf courses and sports grounds around the country daily. We are also a major supplier of dried sands for use on both golf courses and synthetic surfaces.

All our sands, rootzones and top dressings are sourced from specially-selected suppliers around the UK, tailored to help course managers and groundstaff develop first class natural playing surfaces. Quality is paramount to us and our customers, as such we only source products from producers that have a proven track record and good quality control.

Over the years we have expanded our product range to include Mivena Speciality Fertilizers, produced in their own factory in Maastricht; they produce a high quality and competitively priced range of controlled and slow release technology fertilisers with a wide range of uses and longevities to suit all needs.

When it comes to the environment, the standards for products and services have been raised over recent years. The Mivena products fit well in a sustainable policy, due to the resin coating used in their controlled release products being 100 percent bio-degradable and with the higher efficiency / lower leaching of their fertilisers leading to less applications, leading to less pollution and less effect on the environment and the structure of the soil.

In 2015 we were proud to announce the distributorship of Capillary Concrete for the UK, one of the world’s top bunker liners, since then we have been involved in many prestigious projects including Gleneagles Resort (Kings and Queens courses), Loch Lomond GC, Royal Norwich, Bruntsfield Links Golf Society, Mortonhall GC, Porters Park GC, Sundridge Park GC, and Ramside Hall to name a few.

Thousands of bunkers have been built or renovated with Capillary Bunkers across the world, from Australia and Japan to the USA and Europe.

Capillary Bunkers is the only sports base that moves water in two directions, this is the secret behind Capillary Bunkers’ ability to keep bunkers in great shape regardless of the weather conditions. Capillary Bunkers will virtually eliminate wash-outs, soil contamination, plugged ball lies and other bunker maintenance problems. Capillary Concrete™ will even give you a return on your investment through reduced sand loss / replacement and a reduction in bunker maintenance.

2020 saw the first Capillary Hydroponics tee system installed in the UK, the Capillary Hydroponics System divides the turf area into two equally large areas. A control basin automatically oxygenates and pumps or drains water between the two areas on a regular schedule. The system is powered by a small solar panel, and the water levels in the turf profile can easily be adjusted, it is a totally new approach that gives you great playability with significantly less risk and maintenance.

This patented system automatically regulates the water levels and increases gas exchange by raising and lowering the water table to produce deeper, healthier roots and higher quality turfgrass.
