Interview with The Island Golf Club, Dublin

What was the problem?

As some of our steps were in need of upgrade, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to try Gripclad. Previously the club had used Astro turf, which, after a period deteriorated, looked untidy and wasn’t very natural in a links environment.

What did you look at and how did you come by GripClad?

On recommendations of an industry colleague and with player health and safety in mind, I was keen to use GripClad after seeing it in situ at several other clubs. I found Barry extremely helpful throughout the ordering process and liked the fact that the tiles were cut to the required sizes prior to delivery.

How easy was it to fit GripClad?

GripClad was extremely easy to install. All screws and adhesives were sent over with the tiles.

It was just a matter of brushing the sleepers beforehand, getting the gripclad lined up, applying the adhesive and installing the screws with a cordless screwdriver. The steps were opened for use the next day.

What has been the result since you’ve installed the GripClad Safety Treads?

Players commented straight away on the tidy look of GripClad, in comparison to the previously used astro turf. I also have that peace of mind that the installed tiles will stand us in good stead on our steps for many years, with regards to health and safety at the club.

Call GripClad now for your free quotation or samples, or just a chat about the right sizes for your club. Many golf club testimonies are available if required.
