The ‘fully sealed bunker system’ is a concept offered by Durabunker, combining a seamless liner with synthetic bunker edging, creating a sealed tank, with no point of weakness. Durabunker, the first company to offer this system under one business umbrella, has seen the take up of the system grow in recent times, with courses such as Sittingbourne & Milton Regis, Forest Pines and Littlehampton commissioning Durabunker to supply and install both seamless liners and synthetic bunker edging.

Paul Best, head greenkeeper at Sittingbourne & Milton Regis, commented: “We wanted a complete solution for our bunkers with the assurance that our investment would yield the best possible results. We recognised the benefits of both the synthetic bunker edging system and seamless liner that Durabunker offer, we also liked the idea of dealing with one company for the entirety of the project.

“Durabunker founder, Rhydian Lewis, has led the design work, creating some beautiful bunkers that have not only inspired our members, but transformed our maintenance practices. The Durabunkers have not ponded once, we have had no washout or contamination and the synthetic edges have not moved an inch. No raking, no repairing and no re-instating sand, we just cannot believe the results!!”

Durabunker Director Rhydian Lewis added: “We have expanded our product range and services over recent years, with a variety of bunker liners including the Better Billy Bunker liner, ‘Duracrumb’ (rubber crumb liner) and fabric liner options, all complementing our synthetic bunker edge technology. We’ve coupled these products with a choice of self installs, a full design and build service and anything in between, ensuring we can facilitate the client’s preference.

“Sittingbourne trialled our synthetic edge system and both our seamless liners in the early stages of their project before moving forward with a clear template. Littlehampton GC did the same, both ultimately choosing different liners. The beauty is we can facilitate those choices, presenting accurate and unbiased information, ensuring clients make fully informed choices.”
