Following graduation from Myerscough College in Preston with an HND in turfgrass science, Jamie continued his studies at Ohio State University. His internship was spent at the Bay Hill Club in Florida, where he worked on the Bay Hill Invitational and US Open qualifying.

Jamie developed his career further at The Belfry, where he worked on three Benson and Hedges International Opens and he headed up the greens’ team for the 2002 Ryder Cup.

He gained further championship experience by preparing the Dukes Course in St Andrews for the Scottish Amateur Championship in 2003 and the Aegean Airlines Tournament, Crete, in 2006.

Jamie joined Sunningdale as deputy courses manager in 2007.

Having started his golfing career as an assistant pro at Bristol and Clifton GC, Jamie currently plays from a handicap of five. In his leisure time he enjoys fishing, football and riding motorcycles.

Club secretary, Stephen Toon, said: “Jamie is a very valuable addition to the senior management team at Sunningdale Golf Club.

“His qualifications in agronomy, his golfing ability and his international experience, coupled with an expansive background in tournament preparation, including the 2008 RICOH Women’s British Open; the 2009 Senior Open Championship and 10 consecutive years of Open Championship, international final qualifying at Sunningdale, has given Jamie a firm foundation to take responsibility for one of the most demanding roles in the field of golf course management.”

Sunningdale is considered as one of the premier golf clubs in the world – its New and Old courses are rated by www.top100golfcourses.co.uk as the finest 36 holes of golf in the British Isles.
