David Houghton, managing director of Htn Contracting, gives his update of what the company was up to in the first three months of 2020: Htn on the road. Well, in the couple of months prior to the coronavirus lockdown, Mother Nature threw everything she had at us, including strong wind, hail, frost, extremely wet weather and flooding. Our travels took us far and wide including two splendid weeks in Aberdeenshire to lay H-Flex at the wonderful Cruden Bay Golf Club followed by a short visit to the picturesque Banchory Golf Club.

The wind blew hard off the North Sea at Cruden Bay but the team stayed committed and with the support of Alister Matherson and his team, we successfully completed the installation of the new footpaths between the clubhouse and the newly formed first tee. For those who plan to visit Cruden Bay this year, I am confident that this new facility will add to your enjoyment as you walk in anticipation to the new tee to drive your ball down the first fairway.

Cruden Bay chose our H-Flex Red Granite finish for this installation and as you can see from the photo it works really well.

Les Durno, general manager, Cruden Bay comments: “The new H-Flex path at the front of the Clubhouse down to the old clubhouse and the first tee are now finished and looking fantastic. Credit to Htn Contracting for the quality and speed of work. Using around 2,000 recycled tyres along with red granite stone presents a quality feel and look which we and our members are delighted with.”

The busy period also saw successful H-Flex installations at Prestbury Golf Club Cheshire, Hale Golf Club Manchester, The Warrington Golf Club Cheshire, Bury Golf Club Manchester and Woodsome Hall Golf Club Yorkshire.

Unfortunately, coronavirus brought the programme to a premature end. Further projects are planned once the current situation is over. I’m sure you would all like to join us in offering our gratitude to all those in the NHS and supporting workers who are in the front line on our behalf.
